So we played our Record Release Show at thee Parkside and it was pure punk rock craziness. We drank a lot to the point where some of us fell over while we were playing and others of us decided to heave their drumsets onto 17th Street. It wasn't our tightest performance for sure but it certainly was one of our most exciting. Thanks to Sweet Crude Bill and the LNS for doing a great job of promoting and playing. These guys are real professionals. thank you to Rich Trott of Palace Family Steakhouse for manning our merch table. Thanks to Boom at thee Parkside for being such an integral part of the SF music scene. Thanks to all those who came out to our show - it is your support that makes things fun. We have one more show at the Tom Waddell Health Center Holiday Party and then Pillow Pusher will be taking an extended hiatus for a while. Please check out our Cd http://cdbaby.com/cd/pillowpusher2 and look for our tracks on I-Tunes soon.   Again thanks for your support SF and keep believing in swordfish!

It's on. Pillow Pusher is putting the finishing touches on their new record tentatively called Room 5. Today we will be in the studio with some guest yellers and singers to whom we will give credit for adding some nice crowd noises to Room 5. We are gearing up to play three stout shows in Sept, Oct, and November. Our September show is a birthday celebration (Salad and Ellard), a 2nd annual celebration of bands that begin with the letter P, and an overall testimonial to the Gods of fabric softener. DON'T MISS IT.  Speaking of fabric softener, Pillow Pusher will be playing a live promotional in store performance at Don't Call It Frisco laundromat sometime soon. Stay tuned and stay fit!

Oh hello there. So we had a fine show at LiPo Lounge on July 9 with Binky and the Matinees. Someone told me that LiPo Lounge is the most punk venue in SF. It really is rather DIY. Car-L rocked his first live performance with PP. Salad worked the crowd like an old Vegas lounge act and Ellard proceeded to drink an entire bottle of Tequilia and bleed all over his snare drum. All in all a serious show. Thanks for those that came out including our former bassist Poopy and a pox on the houses of those that did not. We are nearly done with our new record and it rocks! Our record release show will be on October 14 at the House of Shields - mark your blackberry asses. We are planning on playing several live dates before and after this show so please come out and bring you Kosher friends with you. Respecked.

Greetings archivists and munch rebels. So it's been a while since the news of Pillow Pusher's escapades have been entered into cyberspace. Basically, there was a 3 month break and then things picked up again. Now there are shows including one Sat. July 8 at the legendary LiPo Lounge in Chinatown. We are very nearly done recording the next release. It is going to rock the mf cartesian plane if you know what i mean. Car-L has been really playing around with all the basslines and the shit is sounding good. We have even started resurrecting some of Salad's older tunes including one entitled 'For Having a Tree In my Yard'. So I hope you guys come to the LiPo show.

February 26, 2006

Pillow Pusher went into Lennon Studios on February 19 and laid down the tracks to the new record. The performances were excellent, spirits were high - thanks to Barbara (from Pono) and Mendoza for their support - the recording came out splendidly Smithers.  Car-L put in a solid performance. Next Salad and Ellard will record vocals and other special touches. Expect the record in May. Will post pictures of the recording session soon. The band is considering playing some earlier live dates before the record release show. Stay tuned. By the way there were no picks - guitar or bass- used in the recording. Just thought you would like to know that.

February 7, 2006

Pillow Pusher are scheduled to start recording the last of their tracks for their second record on February 19. If all goes well - which it never does - there will be a new record done by the end of April. Expect a Record release show in May. We plan on pressing a limited(40) amount of vinyl for this next one for all you wax junkies.  Right now this is still planning to be Pillow Pusher's final record and probably last show so don't miss it.

January 19, 2006

Pillow Pusher are back, and in the studio rehearsing for their second full length record. On bass, Poopy Lickles' old job has been filled by Car-L who will help Pillow Pusher record it's last record and play it's final show. Yes there will be one more time to see Pillow Pusher live. Stay tuned boon diggers.

This past Saturday the 17th, I decided to let Salad and Ellard know that I was quitting the band. It took a lot of consideration on my part but I realized it was something I needed to do. And when the time came to do it, it wasn't easy. Ellard had put some time and energy into preparing to record PP's second album. He seemed like he was pretty excited about getting on with it, and I'm sure I took the wind right out of his sails. Salad seemed pretty deflated too. We certainly invested a lot of time in getting this last bunch of songs up to muster, so one might say I had pretty bad timing. But I think it was better for me to make my exit before the album was recorded than after. And is there ever really a good time for something like this? I don't think so.

I left the ball in their court when we left the other day. I told them I would still record the album with them if they wanted. But I'm not sure they were interested in that. They both seemed to think that my quitting meaned the end of Pillow Pusher all together, and I haven't heard from either of them since then, so the future seems a little unsure.

At any rate, I would like to thank everyone who came out to the Pillow Pusher shows, bought our cd, or supported us along the way. It means a lot to me and I have to say we had some damned good times. So thanks.

-Poopy

If you came out to see us at DNA lounge last night, you're like a saintly saint with a saint for a face. If you didn't come to see us, you're like a devilly devil head who likes to devil around. Either way, we had a fine show. It was short but Switt (as in Loretta). And Salad got his Hot Lips on to say, "great sound, great music, great cause, and great disconnect." There you have it, taxpayers.

Thanks to everyone who came out to see us last night at Amnesia. We had a great show, but it wouldn't have been half as good without all the freaky peeps. Plus we got paid out the anus. Frankly we don't really expect to get paid at every show, so its always nice when we do. Even if it's only five bucks each. But Amnesia took such a small cut of the door, that the bands ended up with a sweet chunk of change. This must be what Dave Matthews feels like.

Saturday, July 9, 2005

Our show last night at Underground SF could easily be described as a series of challenges. First of all, there was the stage. Usually the dancefloor, it was only viewable to the narrow bar floor from an even narrower set of three steps. This forced us into a rather tight configuration. In addition, the only bathrooms were located directly behind the stage, forcing those with drunken, full bladders to walk directly through the performance. Next, there was the lighting situation, which was was practically non-existent. The only stage light was a Home Depot-style clamp light, which in the absence of anything to clamp on, was balanced on top of a vocal monitor. This left Ellard in total darkness despite his best attempts at nudity, and left Poopy and Salad with a harsh, unforgiving light that allowed them no view of their fretboards. Add to this the sweltering heat of a small, packed club and you start to get the picture. The set was loose but entertaining, we hope.

Things only got more interesting around 12:30 once Poopy's mom realized that her car had been towed. With Salad at the wheel, and Poopy in the navigator's seat, the three of them embarked on a largely fruitless adventure across the dark, industrial side of the city populated mostly by blinking red traffic lights and padlocked gates. High(low)lights included a pointless trip to the San Francisco police station, Poopy giving his last 60 cents to a vagrant moments before eveyone realized they had no change for a pay phone, and getting completely lost in Bayview/Hunter's Point. Three hours and $275 later, Poopy's mom finally got her Volkswagon Jetta back and everyone slept the sleep of the truly exhausted and frustrated.

After a bit of a hiatus, and some thoughtful reflection on our recent recording, Pillow Pusher has decided to take another whack at recording. Having limited resources and no budget can be difficult if you want to make yourself heard. So today Pillow Pusher spent a short three hour span attempting to lay down two tracks at our practice space with Ellard's digital recorder. Early results are encouraging. Stay tuned.

Thursday, March 24, 2005

Okay, lets see here. We're a little overdue for a news update. Pillow Pusher has recorded a new album, but the more we've listened to it, the more we decided we don't like it. It's a long story. But pretty soon we'll make our last-ditch effort to save it before we trash the whole thing and have do-overs. We'll probably save the special bonus song we mentioned in the last news article, but we might just record the whole damned thing over again. Musicians can be so particular.

Okay, next we should mention that we had a great show on February 26th at the Cyclone. Thanks to everyone who came out to see us. Extra special thanks to Poopy's mom for bringing cookies. Both Girl Scout and home made style.

We also had a fine show on March 19th at the Cherry Bar, even though hardly anyone showed up. We had Ellard's girlfriend Barb, and a few of her friends, but that was the extent of the Pillow Pusher support. Let's see if we can do a little better for the next one, hunh? The high point of the night was when the second band, the Crooks, smashed the big mirror behind the stage. It was totally punk rock, and it totally ruled. You shoulda been there.

Friday, January 28, 2005

This past weekend, Salad, Poopy and Ellard got together at Lennon Studios with Joe and Steve from Bay Recorders. Pillow Pusher's entire second album was recorded in less than five hours. There were a few overdubs, but the concept was to re-create the PP live sound asbetos possible, so we attempted to nail everything in one take. As a result, the working title for the album is "Likelive." We also recorded a special bonus song which will be available for download from this website only, so keep your sweet little ass parked on this space for more details. This weekend Salad and Ellard will sit in with Steve for the album's mixing (Poopy has to go to a baptism).

Saturday, January 8, 2005

Welcome back! Thanks. Hopefully everyone had a great holiday season. We here at Pillow Pusher headquarters had a blast. This year's office party got out of hand once again. Once that Celine Dion Christmas album comes on, people really get freaky. Like FREE-KAY, y'know? Anyhow, the new year has brought us a couple of exciting news items. First, Pillow Pusher's album "Malatesta!" is now available for download on iTunes. If you don't already have it, the sweet technology of the 21st century has practically laid the shit at your feet. So download it, throw it on your iPod mini, and sing along with "Thank You Boys" while you're blasting your quads at the gym. Do it now. Second, Pillow Pusher will be going into the studio the weekend of January 22nd to record our second album. People are already saying it's better than the first, so it must be good.

Oh yeah, Doug from Pr0nstar sent us some pictures from the Halloween show. Check 'em out on the pitchers page.

Monday, November 1, 2004

We played a show on Halloween night. Ellard (Richie Tanenbaum) had to play someone else's drum set. Poopy (Angel Baby) had to play someone else's bass. Salad (Hamburglar) got real lit up. But people still told us we played a great set. Go figure. We also forgot to have anyone take pictures on the one night when we were all in costume. But that's rock 'n' roll for you. What matters is that everyone had a great time and no one got hurt intentionally. Thanks to Pr0nstar and the Slow Poisoners for setting up the show.

Tuesday, July 20, 2004

The show last night at Cafe du Nord was highly bitchin'. Pillow Pusher finally got the rock star treatment we deserve not only because we got a sound check, but because we got a REAL DRESSING ROOM with FREE BEER AND WATER! All we were missing was horny bitches and loads o' blow. Despite our hardships, we managed to pull together a powerfully dynamic set that many audience members said was totally life affirming. We would like to thank the Gun & Doll Show for letting open for them, and everyone who came out to rock along. Extra thanks to Royalty for being SO punk rock that we got paid instead of them. And most extra thanks to Maureen for driving our drunk asses home at two in the morning.

Holy Lord God and Mary as well...Our show on Friday afternoon at John Gill's Child Development Center day care program in Redwood City was quite possibly the best show that we've ever had. No shit. First of all, we set up the the "dress-up area" and the acoustics we AMAZING! Who knew? Second, and more importantly, those kids rocked our asses just as hard as we rocked theirs. We were afraid we might be too loud for them, or might outplay their attention spans, but those kids were hardcore! They were the most enthusiastic crowd we've ever had. They made us feel like the rock stars we always hoped we might somehow have resembled. I mean, we got to sign autographs for Christsakes. Even Poopy's girlfriend got to sign autographs just because she was with the band.

Sunday, June 6, 2004

The show last night at the Lipo Lounge was so wicked awesome that Jesus was like, "Goddamn, motherfuckers! That shit was outta sight!" We played in the dark, we banged elbows, and we mighta missed a change or a fill here and there, but we rocked the joint. Don't say we didn't 'cause we did. Some say the best part of the show was actually immediately after the set ended when Poopy's mom licked his face. That's fucking rock and roll, bastards! That...is...fucking...ROCK...AND...ROLL! YEAH!

More great news, in case you haven't keeled over yet, is that we've sold two...yes, two...CDs on CD Baby so far. One to Sacramento and one to Oklahoma. That's where the wind goes whipping down the plain. Or so we hear. Anyhoo, we here at Pillow Pusher Inc. are all a-titter. In case you ain't got one yet, or know some folks who ain't, click on the CD Baby link below and order yours today.

Monday, May 31, 2004

Just in case anyone is wondering...yes, we still exsist. But we're worried about you. Are you okay? You need anything? We're going to the store, so it's not a problem.

The big news is that our CD, "Malatesta!" is now available on CD Baby and on Tower Records.com. Don't worry, there's plenty for everyone. No pushing! So if you don't already have our CD already, click on a link and buy us. All proceeds go to support our filthy habits.

We also have a show coming up this Saturday, June 5th. Click here for more details.

Thursday, February 5, 2004

Thanks to everyone who made it out to our CD release show at Li Po's in Chinatown on Saturday. Thanks also to Painted Bird and PrOnstar for opening up for us. We were really pleased with the turn out and we're begining to realize how powerful of a weapon guilt can be. Seriously though folks, try the veal it's delicious. Anyway, it was more fun than a Texas titty twister. And for the love of macaroni, we sold 13 CDs! Which brings me to my next important bit of news.

Pillow Pusher's first full length album is now available to you and all your loved ones for the low, low price of only five bucks! It is entitled "Malatesta!" and it contains ten original songs. If you've been to a Pillow Pusher show, you'll probably recognize the songs in a butt-naked second and be ready to sing along in no time. This CD is not available in stores and supplies are limited, so act quickly to get yours! Just email us at pillowpusher@hotmail.com and we'll arrange to have your mom pick one up for you. Seriously though, email us if you want one.

Finally, everyone in the world should know that Pillow Pusher has been selected as Lennon Studios' band of the month. Lennon is where we've been practicing on a weekly basis for the past few years and they've always treated us like the hungover princesses that we try to be, so our collective proverbial hat is off to them. Check them out.

If you are reading this then praise the Lord. Seriously. 'Cause that means you either found this recently (and if so, welcome), or you've been checking this site like a trooper and you have the patience of Jobe. Alright, enough with the bible. Pillow Pusher is still here and we are still "in your face to the extreme" (according to Joel Howard of the Los Angeles Herald) but we have been experienceing an extended period of down time since we came back from our tour. Oh, and the tour was great by the way. Yeah. So we're working on having a cd release show, because a lot of people have our cd desipte the fact that it hasn't been released. Keep your beady eyes peeled on this very spot, 'cause if there's news, it'll be here. In this spot.

Monday, August 25, 2003

Pillow Pusher had a kick-ass show at PS Studios Underground on Saturday night, thanks for asking. Anticipation for the upcoming tour sent both audience and band into a rich, creamy lather which spilled forth like a overloaded Maytag. Our thanks to everyone who came out, especially to those who danced, and to Patrick Simms for the use of his space. No thanks to Crazy Christina who couldn't control her freestyle white girl raps and kept leaving the cash box unattended.

Also, for those of you who planned to follow us to our first tour date in Chico, bad news. Apparently the Riff Raff Rock Club has closed it's doors forever and our show has been canceled. Not much we can do about it except cry and spit and scratch and bite though, so no sense in getting upset. We'll see you in Eugene.

Friday, August 15, 2003

We've been a bit remiss with the old updates lately, but you'll want to know that the first Pillow Pusher album has been recorded and we are currently trying to work out some post-production snags. The album will have eleven tracks and has been titled "Malatesta." It may be a few weeks yet before the final cd is pressed and packaged, but we will have a very limited number of pre-release copies available as we set off on our Summer of the Swordfish Tour. We may also be able to post some mp3s on this here site before long. Keep your undies in a bundle 'til then.

In other news, we're about to set off on our Summer of the Swordfish Tour. Despite what the name might imply, the tour will only be a week long, kicking off in San Francisco and ending in Seattle. We're starting to get pretty excited about this, so we hope you can come out to see us somewhere along the way.

Thursday, June 12, 2003

Last night's show at Club Galia was a bit of a challenge for Pillow Pusher, but by all accounts, we came out on top. Salad had come down with a touch of laryngitis and was unable to sing most of the songs. A few contingency ideas were tossed about before we decided to cut the set short. Salad sang two songs ("Assortment" and "Spur"), Poopy sang his two songs("Thank You Boys" and "Better Off"), and Ellard debuted his vocal stylings on a blistering rendition of "Down Under" by Men at Work. The crowd was left wanting more, but everyone will just have to wait.

In other news, we're gearing up to go into the studio this weekend to record our first album and making plans for a late summer tour. Keep your big, hot ass stuck to this site for more info as it develops.

Monday, May 26, 2003

It's official. Pillow Pusher will be going into the studio for the first time over the weekend of June 14th and 15th. We'll be laying down all of the ass-blistering riffs and phat hippy beats that have made us San Francisco's favorite pre-school sing-along band since December of 2002. Soon, you will be able to hold our CD in your hot hands and say to yourself, "My, what a fine coaster this will make."
